Set training and performance goals

The management involvement meeting can inform the training in many ways. The following information is relevant to the course delivery and can enhance the trainers understanding of the organisation’s needs.

The job description of the cleaning staff, whether they clean all areas of the healthcare facility or are just focused on horizontal and vertical surfaces, whether the organisation is striving to achieve accreditation with an awarding body such as JCI.

Whether there is a hygiene services committee that has infection prevention and control team members represent the frequency of their meetings and whether they are aware of the plan training and whether there is any input from them.

  • Whether there is an infection prevention and control nurse specialist on site.
  • Whether there is a health and safety officer.
  • Whether there is a quality improvement plan. The details of the observers that may be nominated to attend the training.
  • Whether there has been a training needs analysis conducted.

The organisation’s policies may be of relevance such as

  • Infection prevention and control policy
  • Uniform policy
  • Hygiene policy
  • Cleaning schedules and checklists
  • Healthcare waste policy
  • Linen policy
  • How cleaning is signed off
  • How documentary evidence is bills for cleaning
  • Whether / what colour coding is in use
  • A list of chemicals in use and for what purpose.
